30 Years of Democracy
We were given a brief by The Liliesleaf Trust, which is a part of The Anti-Apartheid Legacy: Centre of Memory and Learning (CML), to create a Graphic Novel and Poster that celebrates and educates individuals on the 30 years of Democracy in South Africa.
My zine focuses on a young student in the UK who hears about the protests and struggles in South Africa. The colours I have chosen to use help give the piece a historical feel, as well as an earthy feel to make the whole thing more welcoming. Everything is hand-written as a reference to the real protest signs and placards, which would often be made at home and hand-written.
